2022.01.23 13:19 Mundkeule Were there any fans that predicted the plot/charactertwist?

I finished Mr.robot almost 2 years, loved it but I never was on this sub. So my question is were there any fans on this sub(even in season 1 or in the early stages of this show) who predicted the whole 'elliot sexually abused by edward and multiple split personality thing'. Because I never invested much time in this show it was a really crazy and surprising plot twist for me.Loved it. Best finale I've ever seen right after Breaking Bad's finale

2022.01.23 13:19 madamplease The director of the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, a STEM education institute in India, claims that he drove out 'evil spirits' and 'ghosts' by 'chanting holy mantras'

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) are generally ranked as some of the best STEM educational institutes in India. Entrance exams are extremely competitive and many people spend huge amounts of money and years in coaching institutes to study for the exams.
One of their professors has recently gone viral after claiming he exorcised ghosts by chanting Hindu religious mantras (prayers). The professor in question, Laxmidhar Behera, taught electrical engineering in IIT Kanpur, one of the top rated IITs. The video clip in which he makes this claim was hosted on a Youtube channel called “Learn Gita Live Gita", a religious channel run by IIT-affiliated people. (Gita is a reference to the Bhagwad Gita, a Hindu religious text).
He was interviewed for this channel, during which he apparently told this story (the video has since been made private)

In the five-minute clip, Behera recounts how he had travelled to Chennai in 1993 to help a friend who was in distress as his “family was affected by ghosts”. He is heard saying that he had started “practising the thoughts and wisdom in the Bhagavad Gita” along with chanting the ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ mantra and had decided to help his friend to “demonstrate the potency of the holy name.”
“So I took two of my friends and reached at 7 pm. He was in a research scholar apartment. After 10-15 minutes of loud chanting we suddenly saw his father, who was a very short…person, absolutely old, barely able to walk, and suddenly his hand and leg was…he was creating such a ghastly dance and his head is almost touching the roof. You could feel that he is being completely devoured by the evil spirit,” Behera says in the clip.
When he was interviewed about this claim by the Indian Express, a newspaper, he doubled down and said:
When asked about the video, Behera told The Indian Express Friday: “I narrated what I said. Ghosts exist, yes.” He added that modern science cannot explain a lot of occurrences or events.
The interview was seven months ago. Last week he was selected to head another IIT, as their Director.
It's really disappointing to see the reputation of top STEM institutes being driven into the mud by this sort of nonsense.

2022.01.23 13:19 non_htc_bobcat_1997 St. Augustine

I realize now. We're still together. I remember how it all began: Friday, January 17th, 1997, Hoover House, Ohio University, Athens, Ohio.
We first met in the hallway on the First Floor, introduced by your friend.
We met again later that night, after I had finished my bottle of Southern Comfort and came storming into your room looking for my audience.
You spent the week looking for me in every redhaired asshole who crossed your path; I spent the week trying to drive you from my thoughts. That week, we both failed.
We came together the following Friday, January 24th, 1997 when I came to you seeking solace. I was mostly finished with the bottle I'd been drinking all day. You were playing Magic: The Gathering in the mod. We retreated to your room and Gary was there, reading a story you had written; a bit of Star Trek fanfiction about a woman who lived in the trees. Gary fled when I asked you for a shoulder massage.
"Potters' hands" you bragged; it was amazing.
We proceeded from there. The rest of winter quarter flying by in a haze of Friends episodes, playing Descent II, and sleeping less than 40 feet from you, but might as well have been a thousand miles. We fit so well, walking together, across campus or uptown, in our trench-coats, sunglasses, and hats; in my head, we both looked bad ass. I'm sure we looked bad ass separately, but I think we made quite the pair together. I loved that walk we took just before we left on spring break that year. The sun was out, and we walked around, hand-in-hand, smiling and laughing. That's when I fell completely and madly in love with you. I remember how your dad came to get you and when I met him, he shook my hand, and later you told me that he approves.
When we came back, that spring passed in a flurry of sunny days sitting on College Green, playing Civilization II, and spending Friday nights learning how to sleep together in a twin bed. I don't know how we did it, but we managed. That's when we began truly exploring each other's body and learning how physical intimacy could build emotional connections. There was so much to each of us and so much to our relationship.
And, somewhere, in the ever-expanding breadth of existence, that relationship never ended.
In an alternate universe, we graduated from OU, moved to an apartment somewhere in North Canton. You went to work at the museum, and I ended up working somewhere I didn't feel obligated to dedicate my life to. We got married and you followed me around after 9/11 and I joined the Navy. We landed in Baton Rouge after I transitioned to the reserves in 2006 where you worked on your MFA and I got my MPA.
We had kids, bought a house in New Orleans, and I deployed a couple of more times until I finally fell victim to my own commitment to freedom and democracy and fell ill with burn pit syndrome, debilitating spinal arthritis, and complications from rhabdomyolysis.
By now we’ve seen our kids off to college. I wanted them to go to OU or LSU, but we support their decisions in whatever they do; it’s just important that they’re happy. You’re still making ceramics and I’ve started making furniture and doing other woodworking.
We’ve never been perfect, over the years, and it has not been easy. But, the good times vastly outnumber the bad and we couldn’t have been happier. I still look at you with love and lust every morning, with longing every time you walk out the door, and with joy and peace lying down with you at night.
All of this in an alternate universe, where I made better choices; where I made fewer mistakes; where I didn't tell all the lies.
We’re still together there, and I can feel happy for that man and that woman: the painter and the poet who made it through.

2022.01.23 13:19 Magz_br 32/F single with no kids and looking for friends

I’d like to meet friends I can chat and video call with sometimes. It would be cool if we could talk about shows/movies we watch. I’m really into horror, kdramas, lgbtqia series/films. I watch anime sometimes (but I’m not really into shonen).
My hobbies include cooking, gaming, learning Korean and sometimes Lego.
